Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie

So some of our new members suggested picking a classic book, one from the typical "100 Books to Read Before You Die" lists. You came, you saw, you voted. Now you read...

About the book:

Born at the stroke of midnight at the exact moment of India’s independence, Saleem Sinai is a special child. However, this coincidence of birth has consequences he is not prepared for: telepathic powers connect him with 1,000 other ‘midnight’s children’ all of whom are endowed with unusual gifts. Inextricably linked to his nation, Saleem’s story is a whirlwind of disasters and triumphs that mirrors the course of modern India at its most impossible and glorious

Sorry I missed this one. Would anyone mind lending me their book?

The book was not universally loved nor admired...about what it deserves probably as it has not aged well in my opinion..but then what has?

I'm at about the same stage and will dedicate the rest of today and Tuesday to it, may not be enough but lots to discuss anyway. See you tomorrow.

Definitely do Laura. We don't mind at all if people haven't finished the book if you don't mind the odd spoiler!

only a bit more than half-way through the book so far (but still one evening to go!). Enjoying the read so far, thus I was planning to attend in spite of not having finished reading it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
