Zombie Apocalypse Part 2

The monthly Amsterdam Riak meet-up is back and is kindly being hosted by TTY Amsterdam. You're going to need your laptop. Here's how the evening will look:

Intro to Riak: A quick five minute introduction for anyone new to Riak! (whilst eating pizza)

Intro to CRDT's: The way we resolve conflicts in distributed systems is evolving, lets take a look at Conflict Free Replicated Data Types (CRDT's), and how we can use them to automatically resolve conflicts in our large scale systems.

• Zombie Apocalypse Part 2: Last time we installed Riak and ingested a data-set of citizen information. This month we will analyze that data using some more advanced query methods. Don't worry if you couldn't make ZA part 1, you can still take part in ZA part 2!

We will then go to a pub for some beers sponsored by Basho.

A great evening, I learnt a lot again last Thursday, I have written some of this up under http://haildata.net/category/riak/ I also include details of how to build the zombie apocalypse with vagrant / your laptop!

I'm looking forward to Zombie Apocalypse Part II! There might be a clash in schedules though, since I also signed up for Fatherhood Part II, which might start any time now. So consider me a maybe :)

Unfortunately I can't join you for part 2. Will you make some material available so that I can still participate in the sequels?

Yep, no problem! We'll be releasing materials soon but you can dip in at any point without having to have been involved in the previous ones. I'm pretty sure Joel will also be organising quick refreshers on the afternoon before November's meet-up.

If you missed the first session I did make some rough notes of what we covered. I broke this into a couple of blog posts covering:
    (1) the installation and build process for erlang and riak and
    (2) the python bulk load script from .csv file into riak script

    http://haildata.net/category/riak/

Looking forward to making more progress with riak tomorrow!

I'm sorry I can't make it tonight, something has come up. Looking forward to part III, hope part II will be put online somewhere, so I can do it on my own.
