Riak at Klarna and TomTom

Riaktors,

This month we have two very interesting talks.

The first is from a senior engineer at Klarna, Malcolm Matalka, who will speak about how they use Riak for their real-time purchase taking system.

The second is two engineers from TomTom, Nami Nasserazad and Dmitry Ivanov, who will also be talking about how they use Riak, and more specifically, around conflict resolution in NavCloud.

----------------------------------

Title: FRED On Riak: An Experience Report

Synopsis: FRED is Klarna's highly available real time purchase taking system. Riak was chosen as FREDs primary database in order to meet the demands of an always-on system. This talk will cover Klarna's experiences using Riak from development to operations.

----------------------------------

Title: Conflict Resolution in Riak

Synopsis: In this talk we would like to present what problems TOMTOM have faced in NavCloud to deal with Conflict Resolution and Siblings. We are going to show concrete examples to explain the followings:

How to re-design the scheme to reduce the probability of having siblings in Riak.

Case Study: Extracting out nonces which are used for integrity check to another in memory bucket with specific time-to-live.

Techniques which can be used to prevent having endless conflict resolution.

Case Study: Not writing back the result of the conflict resolution in Riak

----------------------------------

In usual Basho style there will be beer and pizza, and we will end the evening with a trip to a local pub. See you there!
