What kinds of things do you design?

I actually don't design any systems myself, but my students do ;-). Our Information Engineering division focuses on the automation of back office systems like Document Management Systems (DMS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Except configuring the systems our students must design a web interface on top of them and this is were UX kicks in. Next to some Web Fundamentals (HTML, CSS, etc) we teach our students UX subjects like Information Architecture, Usability or Web Form Design.

Since when are you active in the field of User Experience? (YYYY)

Since 2006 I'm a member of the UX CocktailHour Amsterdam, that was then called IA Cocktail Hour Amsterdam. My activities in the field of User Experience however really started in the year 2000. When I was confronted with an Information Architecture problem which resulted in a modeling language I now call UiaML (I know the UiaML web site really needs an update, a lot has happened since).

Hi, I'm Alex and I'm a teacher at the Computer Science department of the University of Applied Science Utrecht.
