July TestFest with PFZ

Following the success of last year, we’d like to contribute to the PHP Community once more!

Together with the PFZ group we are organising another TestFest, which will be held on Saturday the 26th of July 2014 between 10:00 and 18:00. During this event we are proud guests of Copernica Marketing Software

Guided by experienced mentors we will be writing tests for various (opensource) PHP projects together with anyone willing to learn or socialise. These mentors will help you write the proper tests, so even without any previous experience, writing tests will be effortless and educational!

You can take part in this event completely free of charge. All you need to do is bring your own device (preferably a notebook) and let us know you are coming.

TestFest is a fun and educational test writing experience and we hope to see you for this great event!

As a small update: thanks to the awesome efforts of all who participated the Code Coverage of phpDocumentor has risen 8%! It went up from 24% to 32%.

This is a great achievement for which we are very grateful. I hope that you enjoyed yourself as much as I did!

Great vibe. It's fun to write tests so relaxed.
I like Michiel's idea to do a TDD kata next time for people who want to learn TDD.

It was incredible today. It makes me happy to see everyone had a good time and learned things at the same time!

@Marieke: I am afraid I didnt get to speak with you that much. I hope I will see you again next time and correct that :)

Anyone coming with working knowledge of CakePHP Unittesting? Would love to master that skill!

I'll represent Phing (www.phing.info). Adding tests to this project is going to represent its own unique challenges as I have no time to prepare a VM setup or anything fancy like that. It's going to be just-in-time installation and hacking!

Anything I can do to show up prepared? Got a VM with PHPUnit running

What's the parking situation at Copernica? And is food (lunch) provided?

Unfortunately I can't make it this Saturday due to a serious accident. I am in hospital as we speak. Take care all and good luck.

Hi all, I have also dropped out (together with a +1), since I am really behind with working on my master thesis, so there should be 2 more free spots. Have a good time!

    July 24

    • Paul E.

Isn't that always the story? As soon as the project takes longer, the testing-part is the first to be skipped :P

    • Paul E.

      Good luck with your thesis!

For those who are not coming, please update your RSVP accordingly.

That way other people have a chance to join as well and we have a better idea of how many people are actually coming.

    Thanks!

I'm on the waiting list :-(
Please RSVP 'no' when you can't make it after all...

I have to cancel as well unfortunately. Still have a lot of stuff to arrange before I leave for a short holiday.

phpDocumentor will be represented again this year by yours truly. Should you want to join me hacking on tests for phpDocumentor it helps to have Vagrant (1.5 or higher), VirtualBox and Ansible (1.6 or higher) installed.

And if you feel especially adventurous: try cloning http://github.com/phpDocumentor... (develop branch) and run `vagrant up`!

Let's have some fun next week! :)

      Yeah. Beer will not.

You don't need a VM persé. It is easier. In the contributor's guide is a list of necessities to get the unit tests running

  • Marcus K.

This is a good initiative! Would like to attend, but cannot make it. Happy testing!
