Garden Exchange and Introduction to Rain Water Harvesting.

  • Mar 29, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

We have a group on facebook entitled Desert Gardeners- (Please feel free to join!!!) ....and we get together to share our garden harvest and abundance of what we might have every other month or so....

At the last exchange there were peppers, basil, lemons, tangelos, grapefruit, oranges, home made deodorant, salsa, herbs, loofahs, etc. . . just to give you an idea. We are open to barter anything that you make or have grown yourself! This will be hosted by Morgan Tobin who also has converted her back yard swimming pool in to a pond habitat with chickens over the deep end and nutrient rich water to feed her trees, etc. Great spot for observing a different kind of "system"

I (Torrie) will be giving an introduction to rain water harvesting/ gray water harvesting presentation so if you are looking for ways to value the H20 on your site it's a good opportunity to get some ideas on ways to work towards harvesting the water on your property.  :)

See below for picture from last exchange. Thanks to Sharon for the picture.

I will be there for just a little while, son has practice AP exam in morning, so have to leave by 11 ish to pick him up, unless I leave hubby at home to deal with it ;). Bringing I Itoi onions and nasturtium seeds to share. And maybe some bunches of rosemary.

Are there limitations on what we can bring? Because we are just starting on our gardening journey, we may not have produce but could make and bring tree cookies that kids can incorporate into their play or maybe bamboo pieces and string so that someone could make bamboo wind chimes with their kids. I feel like I have nothing to share at this point when in fact there might be something depending on what is acceptable. And, are kids welcome?

      or bamboo pieces :)

Well, they are tree cookies...so, it is more of a natural, open-ended toy for kids than something to eat. :)

To join our group on Facebook - Just Search "Desert Gardeners" in your search bar and ask to join :) We will approve your membership. If you are a newbie or experienced gardener, it's all good :) There is room for ALL of us to share the surplus of knowledge, tools, resources, etc.
