Not a bullshitting group, not a new age group, not a dumbed-down philosophy group, not a "Continental" group. We are people from all walks of life who share an interest in serious, analytic philosophy of the sort taught in most Philosophy Departments. You don't need to have been a philosophy major in school, but you do need to be willing to push your brain a little more than usual and tackle some material that might be a tad challenging. -- I started the first Analytic Philosophy Club in Seattle, and it drew some real intellectual firepower from folks, almost none of whom were philosophy majors. It continues to be a very successful group. Now, I've moved to LA, and I want to see if I will be surprised all over again by folks' showing up with a sincere interest in *real* philosophy and who have something important and genuine to contribute to the conversation.
