Huge thanks to everyone who braved the snow last night to join us, and to Scrib for hosting! Duer Reeves gave a (timely) presentation on WeatherCloud's mission to collect and transmit detailed road and weather conditions to drivers, and Greg Guyles showed us how to tell violent scenes from make-out scenes using TV viewer tweet patterns. We also gave graphic designer Carolyn McHale some wildly different ideas to create a mark for our group. Can't wait to see how she'll pull off a beer-bubble-graph-comic-super-hero look!!

Look for more today on our Boulder Startup Week event, Analyze Beer!

Sorry, the weather conspired against me. Looking forward to future events.

No big deal, but obviously a difference in prefers as to parking. I just don't see the value (for me) to a venue where parking is rare (such that there's a charge for it) and inconvenient (have to seek it out) and relatively distant (time consuming to walk especially in weather). It's just an additional cost factor relative to benefits for me (and perhaps some others) to weigh when deciding among various meetings to attend (which I most productive). Most apparently see it differently and if there some special value to this venue that I don't get, then maybe my two cents is unimportant. Just thought I'd mention it.

We are planning on moving the Meetup around to different places. The advantage to Scrib for this day is that I'm a member so we got it for free on short notice.

Also, we would love suggestions on venues! We enjoyed Avery Brewery for the social aspect but it was loud so hearing a technical discussion would be difficult.

Would love to attend, but usually discouraged by the parking Gestapo.

Isn't there a large parking gargage just across Broadway from Scrib?

@Richard - You're totally right. There is also a public lot that is diagonal from Scrib. I'm a fan of parking 2 blocks north of Scrib where there is plenty of 3 hr spots.

I (plus anyone who wants to join) could give a 5min intro to Coursera classes in Data Analysis. May 1 is the start date for the Howe class on "Intro to Data Science" - 8 weeks using R and Python. Drumming up interest for a local study group. P.S. Where is the beer???

Thanks Richard! We'll make some time at the end for announcements. Also... just changed the schedule so that we all move to The West End Tavern for drinks after the presentations and such!

Hey there, Boulder analysts!! Want to show off a cool data project you're doing, or get ideas on approaching or solving a tricky data problem? We're looking for volunteers for the May 1st meetup for what we're calling "data show-and-tell" - you get 5 minutes to explain or present to the group, then members have 5 minutes to ask questions and provide feedback. We're running it Ignite-style (5 min cutoffs) to keep it short and sweet. If you're interested in being a show-and-tell-er, please contact me.
