Yoga teaches that cultivating calmness, combined w/inner discernment of what is truly authentic to our higher selves, is essential for living wisely in "the light of truth." Each moment, even the most painful, can potentially take us deeper in spiritual growth and to the "state of yoga": the merging of the finite self with the infinite. In the directional way that the soul evolves, nothing goes to waste- however, in my own experience, meditation is the "great problem solver" that greatly helps transform pain into wisdom much quicker!
