Our hunter gatherer ancestors had no choice but to eat local and seasonal foods. This free class is part of the New Seasons Market Nutrition and Wellness Classes and Tours Spring 2013 schedule. Iris Briand, RD, will be teaching. Here's the class description from their catalog:
"Are you curious about learning how to prepare healthy, affordable and tasty local and seasonal foods? This class will provide the tools you need to successfully include local produce and ingredients into your meals. Become skilled in preparing seasonal entrees, desserts, sides and snacks as you learn about the health and environmental advantages of eating local."
Parking can be tight at this location. You can park on the streets around the market if no spaces are available in the lot. The class is located upstairs in the very back corner of their employee area. As you enter the store, walk all of the way to the back in the middle of the store to find the stairs and elevator.
I'll be in their cafe area (off to the right at the back, as you enter the store) at 6:00pm having a bite to eat if anyone would like to join me to chat before the class.
New Seasons asks attendees to RSVP for these classes. I will email them a few days before the event with the total number for our group.
If you would like to attend this class but this location and/or date are inconvenient, it is also being offered at the Cedar Hills location in Beaverton on Thursday, May 9 at 7pm.
