They are young and green now. You can harvest them through July, but they start to get bitter and woody later in the season. And, I know the perfect place to harvest them. Sandy River Delta Park has wild nettles galore.
Bring sacks or baskets (I usually use canvas shopping bags), long handled tongs, scissors or shears, and work gloves. We'll meet at the far end of the parking lot from the entrance between 2 and 2:15 pm on Sunday. My cell number is[masked] if you need more information. Here's a link to a map of the park - http://www.portlandpooch.com/dogparks/mapsolo.htm?id=52 - get off on Exit 18 on I-84 E near Troutdale. Loop around under the freeway and head east into the parking lot, all the way to the end. We'll be there till 2:15 pm, then we'll head in.
