I wish I could have been there, but I hope you all got in some great gaming. Mine as of late has consisted of marathon games of Qwirkle with my family.

Played Manhattan Project, which is a worker placement game notable for letting players bomb each other (which only happened once to little effect). Espionage was far more powerful in that it not only shut out other players' buildings but gave you the benefit. Another interesting thing is that there are no rounds, so available actions are completely dependent on when others pull their workers off.
After that was Urban Sprawl (only possible because of the longer time afforded at Kaladi's vs the Library) a fun area-control style city builder. Despite lagging way behind on points for most of the game (or perhaps because of that; the catch-up mechanism is slightly overpowered) Matt completely obliterated David and I on the last two/three turns, more than doubling his points from the entire game up to that point. It's one of those that needs to be played again to really know how I feel about it.

Played in both those games, as Aaron noted, the two unique mechanisms of Manhattan Project are the attacking/bombing of other players, and the action space availability is dependant on when other players pull their workers off the space. I think perhaps more skilled players know when the right time to free up action spaces is, not just when you run out of workers. As far as Urban Sprawl, I agree with Aaron, the catch up mechanism of the Contractor may be too powerful, it not only allowed me to systematically destroy his buildings, but it also protected my high value buildings that were linked to the elected offices from demolition by urban renewal cards. I also think I would need another play to figure out how much I like it. With that said, it was definitely worth the $20 or so I paid for it from a GMT fall sale.

I've tried to call Kaladi's a few times today but it has just gone to voicemail. so we'll just show up and make the best of it.

Save me a spot for Firefly. It's on my list and I want to know if it really is all that and a can of beans. =)

Man, I can't be there and you're bringing Firefly? Life is unfair.
