Under the hood is a 330 ohm resistor. Splices are made using the insulation from 18 AWG wire and overlapping the leads from the LED and resistor, and from the LED and the battery holder wire. The resistor lead and wire terminations on the switch are just wrapped tightly. No soldering required!
