A visual story by Brett and Paxson Woelber. In the midst of radical transformations and international efforts to exploit energy resources and transportation corridors, the Arctic and its people stand remote in the public's understanding and imagination. See this northern landscape as experienced by four scientists and a media professional crossing it by foot and packraft.
The Anchorage Science Pub (ASP) offers regular meetings, open to the public, at which presenters give short, informal talks about scientific topics, followed by a question and answer session. The ASP was created to educate the public on subjects that they might not normally hear about. We love science and we want to share how amazing the world is, along with added benefit of sharing a drink with friends and like minded people. If you are interested in the natural world and love learning through what the scientific method has discovered, this is the group for you.
We meet monthly at the Tap Root Public House in Spenard. All our events are free, but we do hope that attendees give a donation to help us promote and buy needed supplies. All the ASP committee members are volunteers; we work hard to keep the Anchorage Science Pub professional and entertaining.
