Turnagain Arm Trail Run (The Entirety)--9 miles

http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/maps/turnagainarmguide.pdf

*WE WILL LEAVE POTTER TRAILHEAD AT 6:05* (I will be leaving midtown around 5:40 if you want a ride, however this may get complicated, because I will likely be shuttling people to Windy Point to start off, and thus I will need to get a ride back there after the run to get the car)

6/23 Update: 15 people are now signed up...please note that it's not very feasible doing the usual and keeping the group together with a group this size and 9 miles and 1,800 vertical feet of elevation. Some will want to run fast the entire way, while others may be walking the uphill portions. The majority of everyone signed up will be going about the same speed, but **it's up to all of us to keep track of those around us**. It's also a good idea that slower runners drive to Potter Trailhead and leave their car. We will be shuttling to Windy Point. We will likely need 3 cars.

Bring bear spray. And possibly insect repellent. And water.

Who wants to do this over the weekend?! I propose Saturday at 10am! Anyone?

How fast are you planning on running? I want to do both ways this weekend but will have to take it very, very slow since the return is always, always brutal. P.S. Deb, I joined the group, lol.

Cinthia, I am slow, I like to walk most big hills and take it easy, we can run together :)

Wind advisory for turnagain arm with steady rain. Add in mud and roots...there are better days to do this. I am not cancelling this, but i will skip! If you still want to run...use the comment section to coordinate!

Thinking asphalt will be safer. We hiked up to Near Point and 3 of 6 fell related to slippery mud. As for me, I'll probably bail, had my daily dose of rain and mud:)

I actually am hesitant now...we will have to see what the weather looks like later. What does everyone think? Trail conditions are my concern...long soaking rain and muddy hills make for a slow run

Move it to tomorrow! Or the weekend!

I'm so pumped I can make this! Can you clarify where the actual running (not car parking) is starting? I might need to do an out and back from that point due to dog issues (not positive she can make the entire trip)...still deciding.

Anyone have an idea of how technical the trail is?

I'm going to maybe this one...I'd like to do it, but would most likely be the slowest one and I don't know if anyone would be willing to wait on me for a ride. Maybe I could just meet you at Potter's, then get a ride to where we are starting so my own car would be there, then no one would have to wait around?

I'll keep pace with ya Mariah! I haven't ran in a while so I'm fine with whatever pace you're comfortable with. I'm more than happy to stage my vehicle so we don't make others wait. Either way, we'll make it happen.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
