Resurrection Pass Trail Ultra Light Backpacking Experience for non-beginners

I have reserved cabins along the Resurrection Pass Trail (RPT) for May 28, 29 and 30, 2014.  My itinerary  for ultralight backpacking follows.

·  Overnight in Hope Tuesday, May 27, 2014 AD.

·  Hike 14+/- miles to the East Creek Cabin on May 28, 2014 AD and overnight therein.

·  Hike 15+/- miles to the Juneau Lake Cabin on May 29, 2014 AD and overnight therein.

·  Hike 15 +/- miles back to East Creek Cabin on May 30, 2014 AD and overnight therein again.

·  Hike 14 +/- miles back to Hope on May 31, go home and kick dog and recover.

Experienced RPT Hikers given priority during party selection!!!!!!!

Cabins occupancy is 8 max, but 4 persons is reportedly more enjoyable.

I plan to have a tarp for two should cabins not be reached for whatever reason.

If you’re up for this mission, you will need to  bring all your own, food, gear, tolerance for my temperament, and bear and insect protection(s) as you see fit.

I know that one can travel one way on the RPT, but don’t anticipate that shuttling vehicles will be an options for me as a solo participant (and I am now too attractive to risk hitch hiking),  so my reservations entail stopping at the East Creek Cabin going both directions.  If you want to have someone rescue you at the Sterling Hwy terminus, or the Devil's Pass Trailhead, plan it that way and let me know in advance that’s your option.

Cheated death again. Rain mixed with snow at 5:30 am ADT this day prompted me to get going for lower elevation at 6:30 am. Too little coffee left me bleary eyed so I missed see bears or beavers the size of bears on the way out. Found Hope sunny when I arrived at trailhead at 3:30 pm ADT. Nearly 60 miles in four days ain't too shabby for old fat man with assorted defects and replacement parts. On to the next test!

Karen I'm with you on this one. I know Shaun is capable and is in his happy place, he loves hiking on his own. But meanwhile the rest of us are waiting for that "call" saying things went fine. I will be out of cell service in a few hours but will check back in when I get service which most likely won't be until Sunday evening.

Shaun stuck to his original plan and should have arrived at the East Creek cabin last night and should arrive back in Hope by 6 of 7pm today Sat. 5/31/14 he wanted me to call him on Sunday at his home (907)[masked]

I wanted Shaun to hike with me but he insisted on sticking with his original plan so he headed North on the trail back to East creek cabin Friday 5/30/14 at about 9:35 am. The weather was great for the entire trip at about 55 degrees with the occasional very, very light rain, and a nice breeze, the trail was in very good condition and we only witnessed one or two small patches of snow and ice. We saw a porcupine, a beaver, a couple of marmots, lots of bear paw prints and poop but never saw one. The only other hikers we saw the entire trip were six hunters hunting for bears and a family staying at another cabin on Juneau Lake.

I hiked the Resurrection Pass trail with Shaun we started at 9:35 am Wed. 5/28/14 from The Hope Trail head and arrived at the East Creek cabin about 6pm. We departed the East Creek cabin on Thur. 5/29/14 at about 9:40 am and arrived at the Juneau Lake cabin about 6:30 pm.

I decided to complete the entire trail so I kept hiking south on Friday 5/30/14 leaving about 9:30 am and arriving at the Keni Princess Wilderness Lodge at about 3:30 pm and a friend picked me up there and gave me a ride back to my car in Hope the winds were very strong with lots of rain on the drive back home.

Two bunks taken for East Creek Cabin on May 28 and Two bunks taken for Juneau Lake Cabin on May 29. Might still have one, two, or three bunks open at the East Creek Cabin on May 30. Bunks will comfortably accommodate a couple or a single. Might be option for shuttle vehicle at Sterling Hwy end for those wishing to walk out southern end of the RPT on May 30 rather than return to the East Creek Cabin that day and hike back to northern trail head near Hope on May 31.
