Cinco de Mayo Bike Pub Ride

I initiated this event 6 years ago, and have hosted it annually every year the Anchorage Adventure Meet-Up has existed.

The Bike for Women is this same day, at 9:30 in the morning.  I'll be doing that ride too, so it's no excuse not to do this one!

We meet at the Campbell Creek Trailhead at Dimond & Northwood/Victor, next to Blockbuster.  We'll bike the trail to Gallos Mexican Restaurant where we will be greeted with a FREE carne asada bbq.  The parking lot will be PACKED, and cars will be TOWED.  Biking to the event is a much better option.

After Gallos, we'll continue biking up the trail to La Mex.  If it's nice out, we can have drinks on the patio.  T-shirts & swag will be given out as door prizes.

Additional stop-over options include: King Street Brewery, the other Gallos, and private homes along the trail (several Adventurers live along Campbell Creek).  If you're willing to host our group, please let me know.

Ole'!

I just did the route on my road bike. It's 75% ride-able. 99% ride-able with a mtn bike. There's a lot of glass at the bottom of the hill at the start. If a few people brought brooms, we could sweep off the glass and perform a community service. The Minnesota underpass is wet & muddy. The Arctic tunnel is full of ice & water. We'll have to go up & over the street. I biked the sidewalk on the return ride between Victor and Minnesota; it was much nicer than the bike path & avoided many of the problem areas. It's not as safe tho - just a word to the parents. We aren't in a hurry, & not going far, so walking a bike for a spell isn't an issue.

I just heard that Cinco de Mayo will be held on Quatro de Mayo at the restaurants this year so that it will be on a Sunday night.

I rode bird-to-gird bike trail (including Anchorage to bird creek) past Sunday, 4/28. 45 miles total and there were still slushy patches that were un ridable but...

Mountain bike with studded tires (that i'm ruining daily on this concrete). My son's bike was a regular kind, except it attaches to the back of mine to make a tandem. He is so ready for the 100K coming up on June 1st

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
