WHAT:
Baby Su(sitna) River between Palmer and Hatcher Pass- WW kayak, IK, Packraft

This is class II-III whitewater for 1.5 miles. You can portage any part you chose to not run. The road is barely out of sight of the whole river section. No one 'rapid' should be as complex as Campground Rapid but it'll be more continuous. Anyone who has run Campground &/or Glacier Creek in Girdwood will be good on this one.

WHEN/WHERE:
Meet at 6 PM at the Eagle River Loop Road overpass/ parking lot in front of the Dump. We will carpool/caravan from here.

The 'drive' time will be about 30 minutes to Palmer from here and 30minutes more to the river. But, we will drop 1 or more cars at the take out as we drive by it and then drive 1.5 road miles to the put-in. We will save a lot of shuttle time that is spent on other rivers a little closer to home.

Trust me - this will be worth making the drive for this one time (and, we may like it enough to do it again later, who knows?)

BRING:
-- Boat of choice (small raft, packraft, IK, whitewater kayak)
-- PFD REQUIRED for any/all Adventurers boating outings; whistle on your PFD (not on zipper pull)
-- HELMET REQUIRED for all Adventurers trips class II or higher
-- Dry suit (wet suit at the very least)
-- Throw bag (strongly recommended 1/boat. If you do not own one but plan to paddle often, please buy an appropriate sized throw bag for your type of boat)
-- Extra clothes in a dry bag
-- Water & snack

CARPOOLING/COST:
Plan to share money for gas in your carpool. See meeting place above.

Driving distance is 37 miles from Eagle River Loop Road to the take out and 1.5 miles from there the put-in. Like I said, trust me and do this (by kayak, packraft or IK) at least this 1 time --- you'll like it.

This section of river is class II-III. We need to be sure that those planning to paddle can handle self-rescue as well as rescuing a swimming paddler and gear. Be sure to bring HELMET AND THROW BAG.

3.5' on the gauge and 200 cfs tonight - lets run it next time at about 300 cfs and it'll be easier over the rocks but boy will some of those holes deepen. 7 of us ran this and 2 decided after a look here to go run the Eagle River (which is just as high as this is low). The pictures tell the story . . . it was AWESOME. Thanks to all for a great evening on the river.
