McHugh peak from Bear Valley

We'll be hiking at least 10 miles and gaining about 3000 feet elevation. If anyone is interested in traversing down to Potter speak up and I'll plan a shuttle. We'll be out 5-7 hours.

Expect snow so bring your kahtoolas or crampons and poles or ice axe. the usual hiking gear, 10 essentials, headlamp just in case, windlayer. Dogs welcome but let us know ahead of time so we can plan shuttle accordingly.

I plan to reward self with brew and nosh post hike so bring $$$ if interested in joining.

It was soooo windy that we ended up dropping off McHugh ridgeline well before the peak, crossing the valley and climbing out on Potter Ridgeline. Still a fun day due to nice company and decent calorie burn!

Hi Maureen...it is really Susan for NH who you know was hoping to see you again in your wonderful area. I just found out I can get a vehicle so will meet you at the TH. I will leave early and if have trouble finding it will call you.
I have to be back by 4:30 I think so may have to opt out to hiked down by myself but still want to join you.

This webpage describes the north route and the northwest ridge. We can head up the North Ridge (Bear Valley) and down the Northwest ridge to Potter. I think the whole thing will take 5 hours. I have done this once, it seemed about the same length as out and back but more interesting. If we can arrange for 2 people to meet me at the exit trailhead at 9:30 so we can leave 2 cars this will work.

If you want to drop your car at NW trailhead please text me. we'll need at least 2 cars.

Susan, glad to see you are coming along on the hike. I have an extra set of gaiters for you to wear to keep the mud, rain and snow out of the boots if you need them.

Still weather depending... If it is only overcast with some rain I'll be there, if it is pouring I might cancel.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
