1950's Pre-dam Grand Canyon Pictures & Lecture by Dick Griffith
Dick will present slides of his 1950's packrafting trips on the San Juan, Green, and Colorado Rivers before the dams were built. He will also show the first ever traverse of the Canyon of Copper in Mexico on his 1952 packrafting trip and his 1995 packrafting trip of the Zanskar River in northern India. He has co-written a book about his adventures in Alaska and abroad, including skiing from Barrow to Hudson Bay (2600 mi) and Unalakleet to Barrow (900 mi, 63 days). Dick has competed in 17 Wilderness Races and was the first person to use a packraft in the event. Dick continues to raft the Grand Canyon every year. His book will be available for purchase & signing at the lecture.
