Chec sumr at Hiden Lake

Is it summer yet at Hidden Lake? Let's go find out. It may be early for berries but wild flowers are guaranteed. There may be some remnant snow patches above the lake if you're having withdrawal symptoms. Let's hike Power Line trail to the German Bridge and then take the traditional trail up the valley to the lake. There is one creek crossing. You can't see Hidden Lake until you are right up on it. The weather will likely be mostly sunny but somewhat windy. (But it's been noticeably changeable recently!)

The elevation gain is around 1500 feet. Hiking time 4-6 hours. This hike is also a good opportunity to get a closer look at Power Line Pass, Ship Lake Pass, the Ramp and the Wedge. Recommend trekking poles; water; a snack; dress non-cotton layers. Bring BUG DOPE and BEAR SPRAY! Well trained, well behaved dogs are OK.

A Chugach State Park sticker or a $5 parking fee is required.

Meet at top of first parking lot near the ranger HQ.

We hiked to lake, had lunch (20 min?) and hiked back in under 4 hrs. That's moving at a pretty good pace. The wind turned cold while we were at the lake which might have contributed to us moving right along on the way back. Flowers were there but not that impressive, I took photos anyway.
