Heart 'n Lunger Hike-Near Point from Basher RD

Heart 'n Lunger Hike
The Heart 'n Lunger hikes will be every Tuesday evening May - September. We have done them every year since 2007. H 'n L hikes, by our definition, gain at least 1500' of elevation. Many of them will offer 2x that elevation gain for the uber-fit among us. Distance and time: 3-4 miles in 3-3.5 hours. At the other end of the fitness spectrum, the less fit in the group have good naturedly dubbed their sub-group the 'Gaspers 'n Wheezers'. Everyone is welcome these hikes are mix with 'out and back' and " Loop"

Meet at 6 PM at the Basher Trail head and follow the power line, will see a small trail on our left on top of the second hill.  This trail will take us to the Wolverine trail, turn left and follow the Near Point trail.

This hike had all the ingredients of a September H&L: a soggy trail, mud puddles and hard-core hikers. I bailed at the halfway point and went for hot coffee. Thanks for the hike and photos, folks! ;)

Thank you, sir. How did those rubber skis work on the mud? I think I spotted a few of your near-misses on the way down!

Gorgeous evening! Missed a pic (in survival mode) of a serene Kyong heading to the top in the rain and Wind, decked-out in red, amidst the red foliage. Thanks Greg for going out of your way to be sure we all made it back.

Is the trailhead off of Campbell Airstrip Road? The map is showing a different area.

Yes. Campbell turns into basher eventually. Google is saying the parking lot is 3.2 miles from Tudor and its on the right.

This trailhead is about 1 mile uphill beyond the North and South Bivouac trailheads. It's on the right where the power line crosses the road, and marked by a brown state park sign. (I'm a maybe for this event.)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
