Friday Bike to Hike- Hope Ak

It's a little ways out of town but this looks like a fun hike to an amazing area that is not often visited.  Good things are often hard to obtain!

Plan is to carpool to Hope, up Palmer Creek Rd to Coeur DeAlene campground where we'll then get on our bikes for a 5 mile easy ride on a dirt road. At the end we hike up to a mine, waterfalls and a gorgeous hanging valley complete with tarns and lots of ridgeline to explore.

This hike will be exploratory for me-I haven't been past the campground. We'll hike till we get tired, bike back down the road and head home. If weather is stellar I may camp and come home Sat.

Bring the usual, mountain bike or good hybrid will be OK, helmet mandatory. Bring lots of food as we'll be out all day. State in your RSVP if you'd be interested in car camping. (good weather only)

Beautiful location with a bit of everything- alpine terrain, rugged mountains, wildflowers, wildlife, waterfalls, creeks, glacier, tarns, spongy reindeer moss covered hills, shale; need I go on... Thanks Maureen

After much deliberation, I am pretty sure they were buffleheads.

I'm a maybe. Sounds great. Just one thing on the camping: this weekend is the Soggy Bottom so Hope is going to be packed. Getting spots could be very challenging.

maybe we can grab spots at Couer de alene or in town early since we'll be there before mere mortals get out of work :)

Sounds wonderful and would like to carpool. I dont have a bike rack for my car however so would contribute $ for gas. Or can possibly drive gas hog truck if needed. Also only interested if good weather, duh. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
