Pioneer Peak in Palmer:
High point-6350 feet, Distance- 12 miles round trip, elevation gain-6400 feet, expect to hike for 10 to 12 hours, Moderate to Difficult
Final Ridge and Summit - very loose and dangerous footing; loose footing in general. Only hikers who enjoy scrambling with some danger should go past that point!
We will start at 200 ft elevation at the nice trailhead (no toilets or water though). Constant steep climb from trailhead until final ridge (5.5 Miles).
If anyone want to stop stop at a picnic table (yes a picnic table) at about 4800 ft (?) or at a saddle at 5200 feet, feel free to do so.
Bring: Trekking Poles, non-cotton layers, shell, sun-protection, sunglasses, water, snacks, lunch, chocolate!!!!.
There are no water access on this trail.
Dogs are Ok, but there are lots of jagged rocks, scree, and bolders.
Parking fee: $5.00. it is not a part of AK state park.
