Wednesday Weekly Wander

Westchester Lagoon (map)

Selected By: Jo
It's Wednesday, and we always do something on Wednesday evenings.

Wednesday weekly wanders repeat weekly; season and weather determine the activity and place, which will be posted early in the week.  If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to email Jo, Julia or Vern.

Westchester Lagoon is in great shape for skating, which we haven't done in a while.  So all who skate, come and enjoy.  For nonskaters, the Coastal Trail was in excellent condition for skiing and walking as of Saturday - not icy at all!

Plan about 90 minutes, followed as always by celebratory food and beverage at a local restaurant, for those who want to extend their evening.

And remember, all who wander are not lost.... at least most of the time.

For those unsure of directions to Westchester Lagoon, do NOT googlemap "Westchester Lagoon" as that sends you to 36th Street. Googlemap "Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park" instead, which will take you to the lagoon....

Well, I showed up long enough to scare everyone with my cough, then went home to cough in private. Sorry to have missed such a fun evening. Colds are boring!!!

Did my annual skate ski foray and this year they were waxed so it went better than usual. Ray's did not disappoint- accommodated a large group with no fuss and served tasty food.

We had walkers, we had skiers, we had skaters, and finally diners! a pleasant evening in good company, followed by our usual excellent service and food at Rays.

First time to the Westchester Lagoon and enjoyed XC with small fun group-others walked or ice skated-and the night was beautiful with mild weather and good snow. Many gathered at Ray's after and I had very good Tofu Fried Rice. All in all a very good event!

Just two ice skated, Matt and I. Ice was rough and needs grooming. Would like to try this again in coming weeks, in hope we'll find better conditions.

Easy walking, no wind, just some moose.

Gerry and I skated on the lagoon. Ice was a little rough but it was great to get out in the beautiful mild evening weather. Dinner afterwards at Rays with the group was excellent (as usual).

A nice walk on coastal trail out and back, past two different moose within 50 feet of trail, both bedded down for a night of people watching. Took three photos but all were out of focus (must improve!).
