Snowshoe to Hidden Lake

This is a 9 mile hike with 1500 foot elevation gain, in summer is considered an easy to moderate hike, in winter with deep snow a little more work. Should be do-able by most anybody that is used to physical exercise and I expect we'll have several pace groups. Not sure if we'll actually go to lake, may divert to Ship Pass overlook which is very pretty in winter.

Snowshoes will most definitely be needed so please bring yours along with something to strap them onto your pack. Snowshoes can be rented from REI or AMH if you need. Waterproof pants are great to keep snow from kicking up onto your butt. Poles will also come in handy as well as small pack, water, snack and those essentials that you usually bring on a winter hike. Wear layers because snowshoeing is very aerobic.

If it's very windy on Sat we may divet to Williwaw lakes (same trailhead) to stay low and out of wind.

Dogs OK only if they are used to trudging through deep snow...many dogs can't handle this so evaluate your canine companion fairly for his sake.

questions, Maureen 306-8973 (I'm not a long waiter so if you're gonna be late please call and then I will wait)

PS, this can also be done on skis by decent skiers, but they will have to break off and form subgroup for the trip back down (fast, wheee!!!)

It was once again super windy but not so cold so we managed to snowshoe for a few hours but didn't make it to the pass or lake. Nice to catch up with friends. Snow is crusted so we just walked over the drifts, not much work involved

Wow! the wind sure howled! but that didn't keep us from an adventurous hike up powerline, across the valley to the base of the mtn, than back along the flanks. A good bunch of folks, too.
