Meet at Prospect Heights trailhead parking lot, 6 PM. We will leave the parking lot by 6:15 PM We'll walk quickly out the Old Homestead Rd. Turn up the Middle Fork of Campbell Cr. trail. Walk a mile or so then turn up hill. We'll walk cross country up up up the side of a steep but never difficult ridge. On top we'll hang a left to top out on a little known landmark over looking the Anchorage Bowl, Rusty Point. Drop down the other side toward the Wolvereine Trail. If we are feel strong and ambitious we may take a jaunt toward the Wolverine summit (maybe???). Ask anyone if they have been to Rusty Point. Unless you ask Peter Sennhauser, I'll bet the answer is, No. This is a cool place within view of most of Anchorage that a very rarely visited. Join us - it'll be a fun evening's adventure. I suggest Moose's Tooth after this one! I also suggest ski poles, good wind gear, plenty of water and a light snack; bug juice, ball cap and a pack to lug all this. Dogs, as on all these Tueday evening romps, are welcome. State park rules apply - leash for first 1/4 mile from parking lot. Pick up the dog drops.

Fabulous, hard and long. Great views and the best alder bashing I've had in a long time.

Note to self: When Doug says little known moose trail he means bush whacking no trail straight up the hill hike. Wear pants.

Good Hike. Steeper than the others. Nice view. Cool and breezy kept me from overheating. Little more bushwacking than usual but that's o.k.

turned back about halfway up the peak, mostly because my little dog was having trouble with the underbrush and needed to be carried.Otherwise it was a great hike with nice views in a peaceful setting

These Tuesday night hikes sure are goal-oriented! Fairly speedy approach hike up the trails was nice enough, but the bushwhack off trail to the base of the peak was awesome. So many chocolate lillies and a half dozen other bright flowers, bear sign.. A couple of us liked the flowers so much, we turned back partway up the peak to go see them again! :-) Actually, was feeling a little too clumsy to push all the way up the steep climb to the top. From below, Maureen and I spied a possible alternate route. I understand these meetup heart and lunger hikes are meant to be taken by people at different speeds, but as a suggestion, it might be wise for the organizer to coordinate some kind of plan so those who turn back to bushwhack back can get word to the main group/be accounted for at trailhead. Or maybe encourage folks to 'group up' in a faster and a slower group. Otherwise, group hike turns into an "alone" hike and we lose the safety advantage of group travel.

WOW that was an uphiller. The next two weeks Teuday night hikes will be cakewalks compared to this one.
