This hike is posted for Barb K. She has just become an Assistant Organizer (AO) fro the Adventurers MeetUp so will hopefully she will be posting hikes on her own in the future. If you want to add activites or events to the MeetUp calendar contact any of the Oraganizers/ Assistant Organizers listed on the left side of the Welcome page. Any of us can post your activity to the Calendar for as many as you want to share. Nike Site Hike Hello Hikers! This Sunday, June 24th hike of the week starts in Arctic Valley at the Aplenglow Ski Area Parking Lot. We will venture along the trail that will take us up towards the Nike Site on the East Side of the Valley. This kid and dog friendly hike offers opportunities for several skill levels. Visibility is good so if you choose to go at a slower pace or venture ahead and trek up the hillside quickly you can feel safe, enjoy yourself and go at your own pace. Families with kids: If you don't feel like traveling UP on this hike, there are several trails in the same area that are relatively flat. Come on up meet some new people and enjoy the area. This is a great hike for families, social dogs, and anyone who enjoys a great view. We will gather at the pool of water near the gate to the chalet. It can take some time to get up the road to the trailhead so plan ahead. Will allow ten minutes for gathering, group departs for the hike at 2:10 PM.

While my 1st hike was a nice steady distance, this last one was a great adventure and I loved blazing the trail up the mountain ourselves! The weather was actually probably better up there than down here, and it was a nice little run down the saddle toward the end!

Great day! It was pretty nasty in Anchorage, but quite lovely up in Arcitc Valley.

We got rained on just a little...but hey...we need that once in a while to remind us why we carry raingear. Saw some new country that I'd ignored for years...think I'll come back for more exploring in the future. Nice group. Sorry to hear about the missing dogs at the end...and really hope everything turns out OK.

Nice hike the only downside was loosing the dogs.
I learned what "he went to see a man about a horse" means now...thank you Shirley!

Light rain, in and out of the clouds, a breeze on the ridge but calm down below ..... what a great time tol be outdoors at a place where you can enjoy Alaska but know you can be back in the car and out of the weather in just a matter of minutes. Great day.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
