Come join me for an evening of geocaching on bikes! Beginners are welcome! We'll meet at the far end of the Westchester Lagoon parking lot nearest the Coastal Trail and the fitness area and head East along the Chester Creek trail from there. I really don't know how far we'll go or how many caches we'll find, but you should plan on being out for about 2 hours. We'll see what and how many we can find during that time. For those of you "in the Know" and who have GPS's, you can go ahead and download the coordinates for the caches between The Westchester Lagoon and The University along the trail. Like I said, we'll just see how we do. ***************Change of plan. 8/15/07 We'll be going from Westchester to Earthquake Park instead, so you'll need to download the caches in that direction instead of from Westchester to the University. For those of you "not in the know" and who do or don't have GPS's, have no fear. You are welcome to join us as I'm sure those of us with GPS's will be happy to share. For more information about Geocaching in Alaska you can visit www.geocaching.com and click on Alaska. You may also be interested in an upcoming event to be held at Kincaid on September 15th. There will be a Geocaching workshop and all are welcome. You can learn more about this event on the geocaching in Alaska website mentioned earlier. ***** PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN YOUR RSVP WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL BE BRINGING A GPS AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL HAVE DOWNLOADED THE COORDINATES INTO YOUR UNIT BEFORE HAND. Geocaching often involves a lot of stopping and starting and crawling around in the bushes and devil's club and mud and creeks and rocks and so forth, so come prepared. Good things to bring in addition to a sense of fun and adventure would be bug repellent, extra batteries for your GPS, long pants and log sleeves (though I don't adhere to this, I shoud), a pen, and any small trinkets you may wish to "trade". As always, it is a good idea to bring water and a snack along with any bike repair stuff you may have. Please feel free to call with questions. [masked] Cache On!
