Srini Midday Hike to Wolverine Peak When: Saturday, Aug 25, 2007 at noon Where: Chugach State Park- Prospect Heights Trailhead Meet at Prospect Heights trailhead parking lot at noon time. We will leave the parking lot at 12:10 PM. From the Prospect Heights parking lot we'll walk out the Old Homestead Rd. Turn up the Wolverine Peak trail and, those who want to go hard and quick, will go for the summit. At my modest speed, it takes me 2 hours and 25 minutes to get to the summit from the Parking Lot. Those who want to go at a more leisurely pace are welcome too. One is expected to go as far and as fast as one desires. Once above timberline there are fabulous views of the Anchorage Bowl and vistas beyond. "The Boulder", just above the top of the alder zone, is a typical stopping place for those who choose not to go to the top. Another very popular turn-around is the flat ridge about 10-15 minute walk beyond the boulder. Views get better and better the higher you go. Suggested gear includes ski poles, good wind gear, plenty of water and a light snack; bug juice, ball cap and a pack to lug all this. Dogs are welcome. State park rules apply - leash for first 1/4 mile from parking lot. Pick up the dog drops. Srini is the contact guy. If you have any questions call Srini at [masked] or email no later than early Saturday morning.
