We've named this wonderful hike the Lollipop Loop. It is basically a 4 mile loop over rolling hills that roughly takes the shape of a lollipop beginning and ending on Basher Rd. If you are unfamiliar with this trail, it is a great one to know about as it offers a great alternative route to Near Point, Wolverine, and the Middle Fork trail. We'll meet at the unnamed parking lot on the right after the South Bivouac lot on Basher Rd at 6:15pm and will head out shortly thereafter. Look for a large boulder at the parking lot entrance. I think it is mile 3.25, but am not sure about that. Plan on hiking at a fairly brisk pace for about 2 hours. Since the weather is unpredictable at the moment, try to bring clothing and footwear appropriate to days conditions as well as a headlamp, if you have one. Dogs are welcome, but please bring a leash if they are moose chasers and as always, come prepared to pick up after them if necessary. Call if you have questions. Margie[masked]

Here's some trivia. I looked up the song lyrics we were trying to recall. They are from the 1934 film Bright Eyes, with Shirley Temple: On the good ship Lollipop
Its a sweet trip to a candy shop
    Where bon-bons play
On the sunny beach of Peppermint Bay.

Great hike though the trails were on the icy side. Those with boot grippers sure had an easier time of it.
We should all do the Snow Dance!
