6300 Kincaid Road, Anchorage, AK
We have new snow, and may have more by Wednesday evening. Not likely enough to ski yet, but one could bring snowshoes. As of this writing (Monday) boots may be enough, but check conditions late Wednesday.
We are going to meet at the intersection of Kincaid and Lucy streets (park along Lucy Street) and go hiking in the woods. We will start on level terrain, climb a bluff, and take footpaths in the woods. This will not be lighted, so you a headlamp. We will wander over up and down terrain, and uneven ground. Plan to be out about 90 minutes. Dress in layers, with warm winter gear. If you aren't sure what to wear, check out the "discussion" pages; Julie wrote an informative piece.
We may walk on the singletrack trails, and if you have your dog, it should be leashed on this section, for the safety of your dog and for bikers coming fast around hairpin turns. We may also be able to walk on the Horseshoe Loop if it hasn't been groomed for xc skiing.
Wednesday weekly wanders repeat weekly; season and weather determine the activity and place, which will be posted early in the week. If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to email Jo, Julia or Vern.
And remember, all who wander are not lost.... at least most of the time.
