Today I watched the ice calve on the left most part of the platform behind the person on the right as soon as I walked around the corner to view the glacier. I felt and heard the ice moving under me when the shockwaves went out. I have video of it.

we are not as close as it appears but still a good thing that it didn't calve yesterday! Had all the rescue gear but no one ever wants to swim :)

Wow Chuck, good timing that you weren't up close, any other folks in the area? We want to see your video!

OK but at the risk of embarrassing myself. Yes I was alone. I got up there early and not a sole on the lake but me. On the way back there were many folks heading out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdslZQZV6V8&feature=youtube_gdata

Believe it or not those waves of energy travel all the way to the visitors center. last time I was there on skates we were on 2 inches of ice and you could see and feel the ice rising and falling with an amplitude of 6-8 inches and an interval of maybe 20 seconds. Ice was really clear and it was terrifying and beautiful. Crying shame it has been so long since its was worth driving down to skate.

I don't feel like such a wuss about running from the calving incident I experienced. This was from 3 days ago 3/24 I believe: "Run for your lives! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyumW2cRTss
