Monthly meetup - February

The fourth Tuesday of the month falls on the 25th February and we're holding it at our usual venue, the King Street Brewhouse from 6pm.

There will be 2 talks tonight, starting at about 6:30pm:

- Patrick Catanzariti: Android sorcery with JavaScript and the Leap Motion
- Daniel Grech: Tips and tricks for the Android Priority Job Queue Library

Lookahead is sponsoring some drinks again

If you'd like to get involved and do a short talk at the March or April meetup, please email me at [masked].

Pat has published an article on Sitepoint with his guide to the Leap Motion, based on the talk he gave at the last meetup. Check it out: http://www.sitepoint.com/controlling-android-phone-wave-finger/

    Hi everyone,

I just sent this around through the Google Group but just in case you didn't see it... Here it is again:

As you know, there is a clash between the Sydney monthly meetup and the JVM meetup which has meant a few people are missing out on going to both meetups.

Unfortunately, Wednesdays-Fridays are usually booked out for the King Street Brewhouse so we can't change the day (unless Monday is your night of choice?)

Although the venue has it's draw backs, I've done a bit of looking around and I think it's our best bet as I'm not sure we'll get a venue each month for the same deal; we have our own area, it's a reasonably quiet space with projector facilities and they have a good range of food and drinks. One day we might even get a microphone :)

How does the first Tuesday of the month sound, starting from 2nd April? Happy to take suggestions though so please feel free to email me at [masked]

    Thanks,
    Georgina

Guys is it possible to change the day once in a while? I can't attend in Tuesdays.

Hi Samin, we're looking to change the day due to a couple of clashes. Thinking probably a Wednesday.. Keep you all posted :)

Hi Samin, we discussed the possibility of changing the date at last night's event. The last Wednesday of the month or the first Wednesday of the month seem to be the most popular suggestions so far.

Hi, so the meeting will be held inside the bar and we got have the dinner there?

Are these meetings for experienced Android developers? I am brand new to Android dev.

The lightning talks cover a broad range of topics without getting bogged down in the details so someone starting out should still enjoy them. There's also a chance to put questions to the senior developers if you are stuck on something
