Wow....I can't believe we already have 13 members.

This meetup group was started last Sunday (11/13/11) to assess interest in the Walnut area for Android. With Cal Poly close by, I was hoping to get a response from a couple of students. I obviously underestimated the potential interest.

So maybe I should explain why I started the group. I have two primary reasons.

First, I'm anxious to learn more about Android, mobile apps, HTML5, s/w development tools, and other flavors of Android (ie, ChromeOS and Google TV). I was hoping that others felt the same way and would be willing to share ideas and experiences, along with contacts when appropriate.

Second, I work for a local company in Walnut (ViewSonic) and it seems we are always looking for software apps and solutions to help differentiate our products. I'm hoping that this group would also introduce me to new s/w products and developers that may be able to help.

I'd like to see this meetup develop into an educational and networking group where we connect developers with key technology partners, potential customers, marketing specialists, and even potential investors.

My goal is to have ViewSonic help sponsor this meetup group by providing a place to meet. I think I'll also be able to get some assistance in the future from other tech companies.
