TAPPED: Android NFC Hackathon @ General Assembly

With millions of NFC-enabled (Near Field Communications) Android devices sold every month, the search continues for NFC's killer app. A lot is being said and millions poured into secure NFC applications - mostly mobile wallets and payments systems. But very little is done so far to leverage the non-secure aspects of NFC.

Join us for a hackathon at General Assembly where we will explore how NFC can be exploited in gaming (as well as social and Internet of Things) applications. We will have $6,000 in prizes, gear - from smartphones to NFC tags of all kinds and shapes, as well as visual designers and experienced developers, to make your prototype a success. Better yet, we will have representatives from Verizon and venture capital firms looking to help you transform your idea into a real product.

Alongside Verizon, sponsors include Samsung Developers, Facebook, Github, Rackspace, Kinvey, Cellotape and Women 2.0.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
