Android Programming Classes at the Alameda Public Library Pages

Our purpose is to help beginning Android developers learn how to program on the Android mobile platform and publish a simple application on the Android market.

This meetup started with the intent of giving a structured sequential class, but it has evolved into something much less structured and much less sequential. Feel feel to drop by during any scheduled meetup, especially if there is a topic you feel you might be interested in. If you're new, you should definitely try to come by when there are no particular topics scheduled as well, this way we may have time to troubleshoot your development environment and help you by suggesting where you might want to get started.

The default programming language for Android is Java (although depending on the day itself, other languages and other frameworks on Android may be discussed) and the default development environment editor is Eclipse (with the Android ADT plugin). A laptop capable of running the Eclipse Android development environment is recommended (at least for some of our meetups, and especially if you're having troubles with it).

To get the most out of our meetings/classes, members should be familiar with at least one programming language such as Java, C/C++, Objective C, C#, Python, etc. This is not a meeting for users of Android, but programmers of Android -- specifically App Developers on Android.
