For safety reasons, it is very important to wear appropriate indoor shoes. Outdoor shoes can be slippery on badminton courts. Running shoes are made to go forward with raised heels for a cushioning effect, whereas a lot of sideway-motions are required in playing badminton. For that reason, running shoes can be a cause of twisted ankles.
