Talk Synopsis:

“Create Mobile Apps Using AngularJS and Cordova”

Leverage your knowledge of AngularJS, using Cordova and the Ionic framework, to write full-featured mobile applications. Cordova (or PhoneGap) applications run in HTML5, and can be compiled for Android, iOS and other platforms. Ionic is a front end framework which greatly simplifies the assembly of mobile apps. In this talk, we will go over key concepts of Cordova, a brief tour of Iconic, and demonstrate how the technologies tie together to build mobile apps.

“Extending Angular’s current routing solution with UI-Router”
Angular's default $routeProvider leaving you wanting more? Frustrated with Angular's default routing solution for your growing application? Learn how to extend Angular's current routing solution with UI-Router to make your application more flexible, add powerful state and sub-state management features, and how to share data easily between states.

Some interesting points from the ionic blog: http://ionicframework.com/blog/what-is-cordova-phonegap/
"Cordova is capable of pretty much anything you need to do on mobile. It's a powerful low-level API that comes with a set of pre-made, simple plugins to do things like access the camera or compass.

So when someone says that Cordova can't do the same things other native apps can do, they are wrong. The only limitation is what plugins are currently available, and your ability or interest in building custom ones for your app."

Exactly. And like I said yesterday, there are so many plugins that it's likely you won't even have to create native code (though YMMV). Plus an additional advantage is that you can leverage javascript (and AngularJS if using ionic) for presentation logic, web service access etc. I guess you could say I'm a proponent...

Sweet! Thanks. And what about the Create Mobile Apps with Cordova presentation (that's the reason I wanted to come to this meeting). I already use UI-Router.
