How to easily extend Umbraco using nothing but AngularJS & WebAPI by Warren Buckley

In this short talk & hands on demo, I will cover how simple it is to extend the Umbraco back office to your needs by
writing components in Umbraco known as property editors purely in AngularJS and further extend our examples working with some external JSON using .NET's WebAPI.

Warren works for an agile agency The CogWorks who specialises in delivering sites built on the Open Source ASP.NET CMS framework Umbraco. Warren has been working with Umbraco for around 8 years. Recently the latest version of Umbraco codenamed Belle, has adopted the AngularJS framework for its backoffice admin UI interface.

Please try to arrive on time and if you are not able to come anymore please update your RSVP to allow others to attend.

We have a networking opportunity at the end of the evening and if you are interested in giving a 5 minute pitch please let me know.

As promised even though a bit late and most of you have probably forgotten about this talk by now, even so here is the slidedeck from my Angular JS & Umbraco talk last Monday, was having a few issues with GitHub Pages to play nicely, hence the delay.

@JulienBrun as you asked me after my talk the JS framework for the slides I presented on Monday night uses Bespoke.js http://markdalgleish.com/projects/bespoke.js/
    http://markdalgleish.com/presentations/bespoke.js/

I have been mega busy at work but I will get the code snippets & the slidedeck posted here by the end of the week if anyone else is still interested.

    Thanks,
    Warren :)

I just wanted to say, instead of having funny extensions for chrome you can simply leave dev tools open and you will have nothing cached anymore while using the right settings. See https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/docs/settings or https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5690269/disabling-chrome-cache-for-website-development - hope that helps!

Great talk by Warren. Like the fact that there was code being written through the demo with real issues that were being discussed. Would have preferred a test first approach as real production code should never be written withut tests, but then again this was a 20 min presentation and the focus was on extending Umbraco. Like the extensibility of Umbraco through angular. Venue was great and many thanks for the free food and drinks. Looking forward to the next one..
