Workshop: AngularJS for Beginners

Want to learn AngularJS? In this short, hands-on workshop we’ll build your first AngularJS app and learning fundamentals along the way. By the end of the session, you’ll not only be confident to build your own apps in the future, but you’ll walk away with your own, functional application. Join Ari Lerner, the author of ng-book (https://ng-book.com) and learn AngularJS the right way!

---------------

Please note, this event has very limited space, so please attend only if you are brand new to AngularJS. If you are looking for more intermediate/advanced topics, the videos from last month's ng-conf are now available here.

Due to the hands-on format of this event, it will not be livestreamed.

Agenda:

6:00 pm - Door opens, pizza, drinks, and socializing

6:30 pm - Workshop begins (Ari Lerner)

Any chance that the slides/presentation will be shared amongst the group? I'd like to go through the exercise again to make sure I have this down. Thanks!

Hi Ari - great material. I suggest you give people ready-to-go examples and templates to download and edit rather than a blank screen. There's too typing of boilerplate HTML up front, and not enough time to do it. Couple that with the small screen font and it was challenging to keep up. But the info was great!

Totally agree with Tony & Sankara. Ari, awesome presentation! Loved the technique to poll the audience and get interaction. Thanks again for taking a couple hours of your time to teach us Angular. It was my first exposure to the framework, looking forward to learning more down the road.

    Thanks!!!

It was really good, but it was a 4 hr presentation squeezed into a 2 hr presentation.

Wow I learned to click on *attending* right away. Yesterday I wasn't sure if I should try to get in at MtV or attend this one. (then I saw how long it would take me to get to MtV) I should have checked my R.S.V.P then. On the waiting list now.

I know I was on a waiting list, but just wanted to confirm I've made it onto the guestlist for this evening.

Just to clarify - this will be a workshop focusing on the implementation of Angular. You should already have a high-level understanding of the advantages of the framework, and this will help you get started. Our other Meetups are more suited to address the, "Why Angular?" question. So... bring your laptops & your questions, and get ready to type quickly! :)

Does Angular require a web server? I wouldn't think so, but I would like to install one before arriving if needed.

I thought I would help out since I'm not a beginner, but I declined instead to make room for someone else to learn. Have fun!

thanks, wil! we'll see you at the next meetup, and we may have more workshops in the future

Last call for people who can no longer attend to change their status to not attending. I am on the waitlist and would love to go.

RSVP's are closed! :( Will there be a waiting list of some kind?

    February 18, 2014

    • Loren H.

      Same question here!

just opened a waitlist! :) and as of now, there is 1 spot left on the regular list...

Note that this training is specifically designed for those who want to learn Angular with limited knowledge of the framework. It's definitely a beginner's session.

That said, bring your computer and be ready to type/ask questions/get involved/etc. It will be a ton of fun tomorrow.

Sounds great! I went through the excellent egghead.io videos some weeks back, but until I get some hands on, I'll not have really retained enough to get going.
