Introduction

Hi! :-) My name is Nicole and I have been working with animals for over 20 years. I am the current owner of Anacapa Animal and Home Care. Animals and their well-being (exotic, domestic or wild) have been my passion for over 20 years.

What do you wish to gain from this meet-up group?

As a caretaker of animals, I am always striving to give the best possible experience to my clients and their two-legged parents. Receiving your insight on medical and behavioral issues, while growing my network of fellow animal lovers would be a positive way to increase my value in the community.

Are you involved in any other animal groups or clubs?

Yes...I am a volunteer and former employee of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, I have been doing TNR in both Ventura County and Los Angeles County for 12 years, I am a former board member, adoption agent and newsletter editor of Kitten Rescue, I am a member of Ventura Pet Sitters and I am a volunteer with Pet Stop Rescue. I also donate to the ASPCA and Humaine Society on a regular basis.

What topics would you like to learn more about?

IV or no IV? I currently administer IV fluids to several cats, per their parents request. I often wonder when it is actually beneficial to the cat rather than just beneficial to the owner--if you know what I mean? Titer Testing--how long do vaccines really last and is Titer Testing accurate??? Proper Diet for Diabetic Cats/Dogs--Is it better to cook meat@every mealtime or give our pets "Prescription Diet" canned/dried food that is suitable for diabetic animals? Dogs and Glucosamine--what is the best coarse of action for a dog w/joint issues? Healthy cat--BEYOND foul-smelling stool !!! What causes this and what can be done to kill the odor??? Snake food---Frozen or Fresh Rats? What is best for the Boa? So many more topics and so little time ;-)... Thank you for offering your services!!!
