A Huge Leap forward

As of last Friday October 7th, we now have an official position with the State Medical Emergency Response out of the Arizona Health Department for the State of Arizona.

What this means, is at last the success of the Flagstaff fires 2 summers ago can be replicated, and the failures of last summers Wallow fires can be prevented. We have alot of work to do. I am asking you to state now to me what role you would like to pay in the coming months.

My number is[masked] if you do not wish to email me. I will be setting up staffing positions in the next week giving you first dibs to work at what ever level you wish - local, county or state before I start to fill the volunteer positions from the outside. Please Contract me by Friday noon, the 14th.

One thing I am going to do is invite certain animal based agencies to be part of the Advisory Council. The agencies I have identified are Kari from HSUS, Empty Bowl Pet Food Pantry, Animal Kinship Ministry all have said yes so far. Next on my list are the Fetch Foundation, Sunbear Arizona, Tempe CERT and Flagstaff Animal Response. Tempe is willing to take on the CERT function for Animals in Maricopa County. If you know of other agencies that fit this more please feel free to suggest them. At this time, rescues and shelters will not be a part of THIS committee.

The watchword is both cooperation and empowerment. Our function will be to support the local responders all at various levels and skills for Animals as well as establish opportunities for Maricopa County responders to gain experience to go with book learning. To assist with helping the local responders to gain in knowledge, skills and best practices to help them in their day to day as well as to providing response to others that need it.

We will be having a management volunteer meeting in 1 week to 2 weeks
Thank you all for hanging in here while I recovered from the stroke.

CJ Anderson,
Program Manager
