One of the "topics" of Occupy Wall Street movement is as follows: "They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices." While it is great to see this, they are, nevertheless, focusing on the treatment of animals and not the actual use of them. We aim to change that! Animal rights, not just animal welfare, deserves to be a major social justice issue.
So here is the plan: We will go the Occupy House in Arlington with a vegan meal and Bold Native film, to see if we can open hearts and minds. These people are trying to end exploitation and we want to help them connect the dots. We need volunteers to help with either cooking, buying food, or donating for the meal cost.
The theme will be Italian, so we need a couple of lasagnas, French bread, salads, side dishes, desserts and drinks. Please include what you will bring so the organizers can fill in the gaps!
Please sign up for what you will be bring; the theme will be Italian. We need drinks, french bread, lasagne, pasta, salad, desserts.
Pasta salad is a great idea! Unless someone elses wants to do the pasta salad, I'll sign on for that. Not sure how "Italian" it is, but it is definitely yummy. :)
I can do a chocolate cake. Not Italiany, but it's good.
Claire, if you can make a vegan chocolate cake, I am 100% sure that there will be no criticism about it not being Italian enough! :)
We will meet at my house and travel to the Occupy House near the Stadium in Arlington.
