Introduction
I love animals and just happened ot find this meetup. I think it would be wonderul to be able to meet up with like minded individuals. I am a vegetarian and believe that no animal should suffer for their meat or fur. .
What would you like to see from this meetup group?
I did see some of the meetups already and I was very pleased. I would like to have meetups to volunteer at some rescues, and also would love to fundraise for them as well. I work out of state for most of the spring/summer/fall months, so it's hard for me to commit consistently, but I would love to be able to participate in events while I'm home. I am very fond of the horse and donkey rescues I donate to here in Colorado. And I have found some others on the meetup groups for rescues that would be great to help also.
What, to you, is the biggest issue concerning animals?
There are so many issues today, I cannot narrow it down to just one. I think the suffering of animals is unacceptable and inhumane. So many animals are in need whether it be from abuse or starvation, there is a great need for rescues. We must stop the cruel practice of aerial hunting of wolves and bears that goes on in Alaska and other states. I am so sympathetic that I cannot bear to learn about some issues and I think most people are that way also. I would prefer to look away, and that's why it's so mportant that we spread the word to everyone about these abuses.
Are there any demonstrations or activities you would like to see this group host?
I would really love to be part of any demonstration involving animals, although I must admit I am really new to this. I would love the group to host some fundraising for the animal rescues. I really believe there are so many horses and donkeys starving right now because of the lack of hay, due to the drought in Texas, and also because of the economy. Some of the rescues are also in need of volunteers in day to day activities. I did see the demonstrations regarding fur on this site, and I think that is also so important to bring awareness to the public.
