Urge Florida to Allow Fewer Dogs to Race

Hello Animal Advocates,

It is so very important that we follow along the greyhound racing issue right now. There are enough animal advocates in Florida to put this issue to rest---we just need to come out in force this year and next year to let our legislators know that we want greyhound racing to cease.  Please read the below and send an e-mail to Leon Biegalski. Then pass this e-mail along to all of your Florida animal advocate contacts.

There is strength in numbers!  If we all do our part--greyhound racing in Florida will be a thing of the past! Thank you.

Urge Florida to Allow Fewer Dogs to Race

Dear Friends, The Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering is currently considering a request from Melbourne Greyhound Park to reduce dog racing. Under the track's request, it would hold races during their upcoming season with only two greyhounds in each race. This would significantly decrease the number of dogs at Melbourne that endure lives of confinement and suffer injuries. Melbourne has also joined with GREY2K USA to support greyhound decoupling, and is only continuing to hold races because it is required to do so under an antiquated law. Please send a polite e-mail today to Division Director Leon Biegalski at [address removed], and ask him to support this reduction in greyhound racing. Tell him that reducing the number of dogs in each race is a positive change that will help greyhounds. Thank you for caring about the dogs! Sincerely,

Carey M. Theil
Executive Director, GREY2K USA
