Please, time is almost out!  And it doesn't matter what county you live in to send an email and sign the petition! Please send the email and sign before 4pm on Tuesday, May 14th!  To do both will take you all of 2 minutes and could make the difference in the lives of so many dogs!!

Subject: Jax Anti-Tethering--PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY
To:

Hello Duval County Members,

     On Tuesday, May 14th at 5pm, the Jacksonville City Council will vote on the proposed Anti-Tethering Ordinance Bill 2013-164. Unfortunately, the subcommittees have amended the original language to read "the owner must be within 100 feet of the tethered dog".  This does nothing to stop the abuse of dog chaining. It also does nothing to protect children, like 17-month-old Dylan Andres, from being attacked and killed by a chained dog. We are asking that you contact the council members by phone or e-mail and ask them to please return to the orginal language of "the owner must be outside AND in visual range of the tethered dog".

     We have included a "Copy and Paste" letter below (or you can write your own).  We have also included the council members e-mail addresses.  Send your e-mail and/or make your phone call BEFORE the vote on Tuesday--this is a FINAL vote on this ordinance.There is strength in numbers! Please do your part to ensure that dogs will no longer be kept chained 24/7 in Duval County. Thank you for your support with this issue and thank you for being a LOHV-FL member.  Please forward this e-mail to all of your Duval County contacts.

Dear Jacksonville City Council Members,

     As a Duval County resident and a member of The League of Humane Voters, I support an ordinance that will ban unattended dog chaining in Duval County. In order to provide for public safety and safety of our dogs, please consider changing the language of the proposed anti-tethering ordinance back to "the owner must be outside AND in visual range of the tethered dog". Thank you for your serious consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,
<Your Name>
