Join the Protest of the Professional Bull Riding Competition at Madison Square Garden-January 9th at 7pm
Please join Friends of Animals and supporters to protest the violent bull riding spectacle being held for the third year at Madison Square Garden on opening night, January 9th.
We will be at the entrance of Madison Square Garden to hold posters and to hand out Bull Riding: An Event Guide flyers to attendees of the Professional Bull Riders 2008 Versus Invitational Competition.
These educational flyers explain the reality of bull riding and reveal the various ways in which bulls are routinely tormented for this false “competition,” including being shocked with a 5,000 volt “hot shot” as they exit the chute, having painful flank straps tightened around the flanks of the bulls and used with metal spurs, and having their tails twisted in the chute. The cruelties inflicted on the bulls provoke the bucking and wild behavior needed to present the false image of domination and control.
Voices of dissent are needed-so let’s make sure that this event doesn’t go on without our presence of opposition and education. The Village Voice is writing about the event, and will be there to document our opposition, as well as other media, so your presence is needed for a strong show of support.
Ford is a major sponsor of this event, in addition to Wrangler, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Jack Daniel’s, Dickies Clothing, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, and US Bank. Be sure to let these companies hear what you think about their choice of sponsorship.
When-Friday, January 9th at 7pm.
Where-Madison Square Garden-The Entrance at Seventh Avenue near 33rd St.-4 Pennsylvania Plaza
