Animals’ Battalion inaugural demo: Ringling Brothers Circus Protest @ Barclays

Please join The Animals’ Battalion and local PETA supporters in protesting Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  This is the Animals’ Battalion inaugural demo and the first day of Ringling’s week at the Barclays Center arena- LET’S SHOW THEM THAT ANIMAL ABUSE IS NOT WELCOME IN NEW YORK!

Please attend the huge opening day protest!

WHEN: Thursday February 20, 6:00 pm – 7 pm

WHERE: In front of Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11217 accessible by the 2,3,4,5 trains (See this map.)

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is known for its long history of abusing animals. In 1929, John Ringling ordered the execution of a majestic bull elephant named Black Diamond after the elephant killed a woman who had been in the crowd as he was paraded through a Texas city. Twenty men took aim and pumped some 170 bullets into Black Diamond's body and then chopped off his bullet-ridden head and mounted it for display in Houston. Ringling Bros.' cruel treatment of animals continues today.

Elephants in Ringling's possession are chained inside filthy, poorly ventilated boxcars for an average of more than 26 hours straight—and up to 100 hours at a time—when the circus travels. Even former Ringling employees have reported that elephants are routinely abused and violently beaten with bullhooks (weapons that resemble a fireplace poker) in order to force them to perform tricks.
