[Discussion] Nagi no Asukara (ep1-6/26)

$2 fee goes to Meetup ($45/q).

"When the Sea Calms Tomorrow." Looks like another tearjerker from writer Mari Okada (Anohana), with beautiful animation from P.A. Works (Angel Beats!).

Originally, humans lived in the ocean. Some longed for the sun and air, shed their protective skin, and moved onto land. Some went back into the water to appease the Sea God.

Four young friends from the ocean are going to school on land for the first time. They don't get along with the ground-dwellers.

Hikari acts like Manaka's mean older brother. However, after witnessing a fateful meeting, he is forced to confront his feelings for her.

Watch it weekly on Crunchyroll:

Then come slurp noodles and talk about it.

Boo, got too busy to catch up on this. With only one episode down, I don't think I can provide much value to the discussion.

Wow, this series' art is ridiculously beautiful. It does throw out any semblance of realism, though. There are a multitude of things wrong with the underwater town...

Scratch that, tentative; I've got to be in New People by 2:15, but this is fairly close by so I should be able to swing it for at least lunch and a bit.
